Birthday Fun!!!! and not so fun!!!

Well, this week was filled with lots of cupcakes, candles, presents, streamers, dentist visits, x-rays......

We started off the birthday week celebration last Sunday, November 15th with Andrew's 8th birthday. Dad took him shopping and he got to pick out a new "totally awesome Andy McDonnell black skateboard". When I asked why he didn't get a "Tony Hawk" one (that's the only one I have heard of) I was informed that he is an old guy like in his 40's and that Andy McDonnell is younger and cooler. Get with it mom.
Dad also took Andrew and Olivia and Caroline to see "A Christmas Carol". They said it was really good but also pretty scary. Good thing I did not take the little girls to see it. We are having enough trouble sleeping through the night around here lately.

We had nice quiet plans for Hannah's birthday celebration, which very quickly got turned around as we had to rush her to the dentist Friday the 20th (her birthday) for xrays of her front tooth. She had a fall from an arm chair in our hearth room Thursday night and impacted her front tooth completely into the gum. When she fell she hit the edge of the end table with her mouth. It could have been a lot worse- so we are thankful it was just her baby tooth. The dentist decided to leave it and not try to pull it down which may add more trauma to the tissue and tendons surrounding the tooth. He said that it will probably drop back down some on its own, but probably not completely. She is a tough little girl. After about 10 xrays and 25mins of screaming, we asked her what she wanted to do for the rest of her birthday. She wanted to "go to the mall and ride the merry go round." So that's what we did. Then, later that evening we had our nice quiet celebration when the other kids got home from school.
We are so thankful for both Andrew's and Hannah's lives and overall had very nice birthday celebrations. It wouldn't be normal for us if we didn't have some kind of crazy excitement going on around here!!!!!
Speaking of teeth, Elizabeth lost her first tooth Sunday morning before church. The tooth fairy came and left her $2.00 in quarters. And, she got to keep her first tooth. Whenever the tooth fairy comes for a first tooth, they leave it for a keepsake. Atleast that is what the tooth fairy in St. Albans does. Or so we are told.
I had my 24 week check up today. Everything looked good and the baby's heartbeat sounded good and strong. We are still undecided about his name yet.
We have so much to be thankful for this year.... our family, sweet friends and most of all the peace that surpasses all understanding in our Beautiful Savior, Jesus!!! We are looking forward to a quiet Thanksgiving dinner with our family. (Well, quiet for the Thom family is really not that quiet)

It's a ........................................

Well, we went to the doctor this past Friday morning and had my ultrasound at 19weeks. The baby looks healthy and strong and is estmated to weigh 11oz. The tech. who did our ultrasound was awesome. She really took the time to tell us what she was doing and why. She said that the baby is growing as it should and is very active already!!! We are happy to announce that we are having another baby boy!!!!!!!
Hooray for Andrew!!! We are so excited and are first praising God for a healthy little baby that He has blessed us with once more. After the ultrasound we drove to LWA to pull the kids out of class for a few minutes to share the good news with them. I wish I could have had a movie camera to record their faces-- especially Andrew! He was jumping up and down pumping his fists and then he grabbed Mark's waste and started hugging him! It was precious! Definitly a teary moment for all!
It is so much fun to share joyful news with the ones we love. That joy continued through the day as we called my parents and Mark's parents and our siblings. They were all secretly rooting for a boy I think! The miracle of God creating a baby never gets old- no matter how many children we have. It is still an amazing thing that God knits this little baby together inside a mother's womb and in nine and a half months we have a beautiful little person added to our family. We are so blessed.
However,we now have some work to do around our house to get ready for this little guy!! Caroline will be moving to the lower level, and we are going to convert our playroom into her bedroom. Andrew gets to move to Caroline's room, which is bigger than his current room. And the baby will get Andrew's old room.Elizabeth and Hannah will continue to share a room. Home Depot- here we come to get paint and brushes and tape and drip cloths!!!!

WE ARE GROWING!!!

We are growing!!! From 7 to 8!!! The Lord has blessed us with another sweet child to be born in March!!! I just turned 41 yesterday, October 11th, and here I am growing larger myself with baby number 6 on the way!! God is so good!!
My daughter Olivia has convinced me that I should do a blog for our family and friends to keep up on what's happening in our family, so this is my attempt to do that.
Olivia, our oldest is 13, in the 8th grade and growing up right before our eyes into this beautiful young lady. Caroline is going to be 11 on October 16th, and is always humming or singing around the house. We took her to see Phantom of the Opera on Friday night- she loved it!!!
Andrew is going to be 8 November 15th, and is really into his skateboard and baseball right now. Elizabeth is 5 and just started kindergaten this year. She is our little Miss Sunshine!! Hannah will be three November 20th, and she is making lots of "big girl strides" the last few months. She has started preschool and has learned to use the pottie!!!! Whoo hoo!!
Mark's business has been going great. About two years ago he started his own executive consulting and coaching business called "Genesis". This has been such a blessing to our family, because he works out of our home and is able to set his own schedule to fit our family!!! Not the other way around. God has been so good to us. We are really looking forward to what He has in store for us for the coming year and with the new baby. We will find out on Oct0ber 23rd if we are having a girl or a boy. Andrew is really pulling for a boy!!! He needs some more blue around here!!! We are traveling to Ohio this week to visit family, so we are getting ready for that trip. It is always an adventure with 5 kids in the car for roadtrips. Please pray that we have safe travels. We probably will not get back home to Ohio until after the baby is born.
